Computing Without Borders: The Way Towards Liquid Computing

Despite the de-facto technological uniformity fostered by cloud and edge computing paradigms, resource fragmentation across isolated clusters hinders dynamism in application placement, leading to suboptimal performance operational complexity. Building upon extending these we propose a novel approach envisioning transparent continuum of resources services on top underlying fragmented infrastructure, called liquid computing . Fully decentralized, multi-ownership-oriented intent-driven, it enables an overarching abstraction for improved applications execution, while at same time opening up new scenarios, including sharing brokering. Following above vision, present xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">liqo , open-source project that materializes this through creation dynamic seamless Kubernetes multi-cluster topologies. Extensive experimental evaluations have shown its effectiveness different contexts, both terms overhead compared other alternatives.
